On February 19, the Nagaland Masters Games Association (NMGA) conducted a felicitation programme for the medal winners at the DDSC Stadium, Dimapur, where the Vice President of the Dimapur District Sports Council (DDSC), Tsenthungo Nyamo, was invited as a special guest. As an avid sports lover and a former NMGA President, Tsenthungo said he was thrilled by the “big achievement of the state contingent. “To me, this is a big achievement and I am the happiest. Who would have thought that we would be winning medals? We Nagas also have the talent and the calibre,” he said.
While stating that he has not still lost the passion for sports, he fondly recalled playing football as a child at the DDSC Stadium, when it was known only as “Public Ground.” According to him, there is no retirement in sports as sports enthusiasts and sportspersons continue to play on. While he urged parents to let their children take to sports, he added, “We Nagas are quick in picking things up. But what I want to stress is that let us try to divert our youth in the right direction.”
