•-Sanitation and hygiene remains the foremost priority of any Municipal Authority/Body and rightly so, to ensure a decent and healthy living condition for the sea of humanity cramped into an ever diminishing living space of urban areas. It is a matter of immense shame and grave cause for concern that the Municipal Authority of the state capital, is observed to be far from satisfactory and rapidly descending into drastic conditions.
The lethargy that has seeped in since the present set of advisors was nominated to the municipal body has deeply seeped into the system. Responsible individuals, community leaders, local Boards/Panchayats, etc frequently makes fervent appeals to the authorities to remove the filth from their overflowing garbage dumps in their respective localities, but to no such affect, and is forced to endure a barrage of lectures on what residents should do, their benevolence in not taxing the public heavily, and the inadequate funding of the authorities. When such authorities remain unaware or refuse to acknowledge their duties and obligations, by virtue of the office they hold, the public cannot help being disappointed. Such attitudes, flimsy excuses and incompetence have no place in a growing/developing city.
It would be reasonable to assume that even our VIP’s have seen the futility of dealing with the present body of advisors and accepted the common man’s way, i.e. not to waste one’s breath and energy in trying to settling matters right. It is an eye-sore and amounts to sticking a thumb in the face of our Government and the public at large. Therefore, the Government needs to act in the interest of our State and our public by immediately replacing inefficient Advisors and the Administrator with people who will lead by example, like the advisors of DMC, until a suitable arrangement can be made.
