Pughoboto, May 13 (MExN): Reverend Deacon Luke Nagahoto Sheqi OFM Cap, who is the third Sumi priest for the Capuchin order and the 4th priest from Lazami parish, was ordained on May 12 by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima. “You did not choose me, but I chose you.” Jn 15:16, is the motto of the new priest. 30 Priests concelebrated with the Bishop.
Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, Bishop’s Secretary, Kohima in a press release stated that Deacon Luke dressed in the traditional Sumi attire was brought in with the traditional tune and dance to the ordination hall. Rev. Fr. Solomon Kevishe, a priest from the same parish anchored the programme while Rev. Fr. Yesudas, the Parish Priest, accorded the words of welcome to the Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, Rev. Fr. Dolphy Pias OFM Cap.
Provincial superior of Holy Trinity Province Karnataka, Fr. Mathias OFM Cap, Provincial Delegate Nagaland-Manipur, G. Kevishe Phucho Addl. Education Secretary Government of Nagaland, the invited guests, other government officials, Village Leaders, dignitaries, priests and sisters from different parishes, NCYM, NCWA, SABAK Staff, catechists, pastors of different churches and other participants.
During the felicitation programme there were special items like congratulation song by the St. Stephen Church Natsumi, special songs by Christ King Church, Mukalimi, and Mishilimi Azanogo & Co, Choreography, speeches from the Bishop, from Rev. Fr. Dolphy Pias OFM Cap. Holy Trinity Province Karnataka, and Fr. Mathias. Rev Fr. Luke Nagahoto newly ordained priest thanked all in turn and Mr Zutovi G. Sheqi proposed the vote of thanks. Pihoshe and Alibo anchored the felicitation programme.
Time was allotted for the well wishers to felicitate the newly ordained personally and after which meal was served to all.
