Thousands bid farewell to Late K Yamukam

Public gathered from neighboring villages to bid farewell to Late K. Yamukam, former Minister at Shamator on November 11.
  Shamator, November 11 (MExN): Tens of thousands of Yimchunger public thronged from neighboring villages to bid farewell to their fatherly figure Late K. Yamukam, former Minister. One of the tallest leaders from Nagaland passed away at a private hospital on November 9. He was 89.   Earlier the programme was chaired by Advocate Laji, General Secretary Yimchungru Tribal Council, invocation by Dr. S.J. Akhum ES. YBBA. Speeches were delivered from President YAA, President YWO, President Yimchunger GB's union, President GB's Union Shamator Area, Hd. DB Shamator, Head GB Shamator town, Head GB Sangphur village, Head GB Shamator village, ADC Shamator, Jamithung Lotha DC Tuensang, in-laws Veprasa Nyekha, Showuba family Thungthung. Note of salute was given by S. Throngso, President Yimchungru Tribal Council. Committal prayer was done by Reverend R. Thsankiu, Pastor Shamator Town Baptist Church.   More organizations and individuals have mourned the demise of the departed leader.   ENPO: The ENPO in a condolence message recalled its late leader K. Yamukam as their ‘history book’ who had contributed and sacrificed during turbulent times and brought peace in the region and the state. “The people of Eastern Nagaland have lost an outstanding personality and a prominent leader,” stated the message and added that the ENPO shall always cherish his sincere dedication for his people. The Union further conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed leader to rest in peace.   PACSU: Pungro Area College Students’ Union (PACSU) has expressed sadness on the demise. A condolence message its President stated that Late Yamukam will be remembered as an able leader and fatherly figure and that his demise was a great loss for the Yimchungers. The Union prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and for God to grant solace to the bereaved family members.   YUD: The Yimchungrü Union Dimapur (YUD) has expressed grief at the demise. A condolence note described Late Yamukam as a veteran politician, pioneer, dynamic and charismatic leader and mediator, a man of principle, integrity and commitment who stood and worked for the common lucrative of the people. YUD stated that his demise has left a huge social and political vacuum in the society. It further expressed deepest sorrow to the bereaved family and prayed that the Almighty grant solace to the departed soul to rest in peace.   T Torechu: MLA, T Torechu has expressed sadness on the demise of Late Yamukam. In a condolence message, Torechu stated that the late leader was a charismatic and down to earth statesman, whose absolute resolve and commitment to the people was unprecedented. He further conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.   Noke Wangnao: Noke Wangnao, Advisor, Department of Social Welfare Home Guard & Civil Defence, has expressed sadness on the demise of Yamukam, whom he knew well for long. “He was one of the tall leaders of Yimchunger tribe, who served the Nagas immensely as a dedicated social worker,” Noke said in a condolence message. His unfinished mission will be carried forward by his son Toshi Wungtung, he said. Noke and his family further conveyed their deepest condolences to the bereaved family and joined in the prayer for the departed soul to rest in peace.
