Three killed in vehicle accident near Phek

Kohima | May 3 : A government officer alongwith his wife and driver were killed in a tragic vehicle accident near Lanye River in Phek district on May 2 last. The bodies of the deceased were recovered today, sources said. The deceased were identified as Imyulepdang of Longkhum village, District Horticulture Officer, Phek; his wife Imwatila and the driver as Arjun. According to the sources the wreckage of the vehicle and the deceased bodies were found only the next day. They were traveling from Dimapur to Phek district headquarters. The road mishap occurred in Lanye river road about 29 kilometres away from Phek town. The cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained at the time of filling this report.
Meanwhile, Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu has conveyed his grief and sorrow on the demise of District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Phek, Imyulepdang along with wife Imwatila and the driver in a tragic accident near Lanye on May 2 evening. According to a press note, the bodies of the DHO, his wife and driver, all reportedly killed on the spot were found by a search party on Tuesday morning. Late Imyulepdang was on his way to Phek after attending to his official duties and was returning to attend an official meeting slated for May 3 when the unfortunate accident occurred. Recalling the deceased as a sincere, dedicated and a hard working officer who has been extending all support and assistance to the public in his capacity as a government servant, the minister has mourned his loss.
The minister has also extended his condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that the Almighty would grant them strength to bear the loss. The funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 4 at the deceased officer’s residence, 3rd Mile, Dimapur.
