Three new cases take Mizoram's COVID-19 tally to 4,259

Aizawl, January 8 (PTI): Mizoram on Friday reported three new COVID-19 cases, pushing the state''s tally to 4,259, a health department official said.

All the three cases were reported from Aizawl district, he said.

"One new patient has recently returned from Uttarkhand and another was found during contact tracing, while it is yet to be ascertained how the remaining one person contracted the disease," the official said.

Two new cases were detected through rapid antigen tests and one through RT-PCR at Zoram Medical College, he said.

Mizoram now has 79 active cases, while 4,172 people have recovered from the disease so far and eight died.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state stands at 97.96 per cent.

Altogether, 1,85,161 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the state so far, including 1,092 on Thursday. PTI COR BDC BDC
