Three sports associations launched in Tseminyu

Launching programme of Tseminyu District Rifle Association, Table Tennis Association Tseminyu District and Tseminyu Athletics Association held at Tseminyu Town Hall on July 14.

Tseminyu, July 15 (MExN): The launching programme of Tseminyu District Rifle Association (TDRA), Table Tennis Association Tseminyu District (TTATD) and Tseminyu Athletics Association (TAA) was held at Tseminyu Town Hall on July 14.

The programme was graced by T John Longkumer, IPS, Director General of Police and President, Nagaland Shooting Sports Association (NSSA) as special guest and Dr Zasekoulie Chusi, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu as the guest of honour. 

A press release received here stated that T John Longkumer, IPS lamented that most of the parents do not encourage their children to choose sports as a profession as they were worried for their future. He stated that modern sports provides many jobs opportunity for sportsperson even after retirement from professional sports, as they can continue to be involved and  work as  judges, referees, coaches, sports administrators etc. 

Nagaland Police Sports Battalion to recruit cadets
He announced that the Nagaland Police Sports Battalion will start recruiting cadets for the next academic session, the selection will be gender equal and selection of cadets will be made from age 8-18 years and free and quality education will be provided. On attaining 21 yrs, the cadets will be given the choice to opt for any profession. 

He also challenged the gathering, that in the ensuing Nagaland Olympics, Tseminyu district should aim for the Team Championship.

Dr Zasekoulie Chusi, IAS spoke on the needs for sports infrastructure in the district and also touched on the need/requirement of new police station and additional manpower for the police force in the district.

The programme was chaired by William Kez, General Secretary (TAA), Athonglo Khing, Pastor, Tseminyu Town Baptist Church invoked God’s blessing for the function. Shalo Khing, Secretary, NSSA gave welcome and introductory note and Yhunyele Magh presented a special song to entertain the gathering. Rev Haiwalo Apon, Executive Secretary, CRBC offered the dedicatory prayers for the newly formed associations and Jetilo Apon, Secretary, TDRA pronounced the vote of thanks.

Renchamo Kikon, IPS, ADGP (Admin), Kanchan Kandpal, IPS, SP, Tseminyu, Longasen Lotha, NCS, Addl. DC, Tseminyu, Lanu Aier, Addl. SP, Tseminyu, Tumben P Tsanglao, EAC Tseminyu, RSA, RMA, RSZ, RSU, Village Council Chairmen, GBs and students from different schools were in attendance.
