Kohima, December 11 (MExN): The 5th annual Dr Toshevi Sümi Totimi MBBS Award was conferred during a programme at Hotel Lavisto, Kohima on December 10.
Three women, namely Kinina Jimomi (D/o Yikishe and Kughaholi), Nilotoli Chishi (D/o Honito I Chishi and Bokali), and Tolinoka A Zhimo (D/o Avishe and Inaholi Zhimo) were felicitated at the award ceremony for securing MBBS seat through NEET 2022.
A press release received here stated that Yikishe P Zhimo, Joint Director, Border Affairs, spoke on behalf of the families of the awardees. Kavitoli Jakhalu, Vice President KSTH spoke on behalf of the Sümi Totimi Hoho, and Itoli Assumi, General Secretary KSTH prayed for the awardees.
Dr Toshevi Sümi Totimi MBBS Award is an initiative of Dr Toshevi Keditsu Sema, the first lady doctor from the Sümi community of Nagaland. She completed her MBBS in the year 1977 from Guwahati Medical College. This award is officiated by Dr K&T Keditsu Foundation in collaboration with Sümi Totimi Hoho and presented annually to Sümi women who qualify to study graduate medical course (MBBS) though the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in India.
This award comprises of a certificate and cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, it added.
