Three youth organisations conferred Kohima District Road Safety Award

The Kohima District Road Safety Award has been conferred to three youth organizations including Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO), Kigwema Youth Organisation (KYO) and D-Block Youth Organisation in a occasion organized by Kohima District Road Safety Committee under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant on February 15. 

The Awardees received citations and Cash Award of Rs 10000 each. The awards were given away during the Kohima District Planning and Development Board meeting by Dr Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, MLA and Chairman, DPDB, Kohima, Kevipodi Sophie, MLA and Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, Kohima District Road Safety Committee.

KVYO was presented the Award in recognition of the overall road safety measures and initiatives undertaken in and around Kohima. 

“Besides, the KVYO has supported the District Administration and Police for improvement of traffic situation in Kohima and management of parking facilities in the interest of public safety,” the Committee noted. 

The Road Safety Committee also said KYO was give the recognition for selfless services rendered towards saving lives during vehicular road accidents in Kigwema village. 

“The KYO has also facilitated the installation of road safety signages, metal and concrete crash barriers at critical locations and timely maintenance of National Highway in close coordination with the implementing agencies,” it said. 

Further D-block Youth were given the recognition for road safety awareness activities conducted for two wheeler riders along the highway. 

The committee for the Annual ‘Kohima District Road Safety Award’ include Rhosietho Nguori, NCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kohima as the Convener and Additional SP Traffic & Protocol, Regional Transport Officer and President, Angami Youth Organisation as members.
