Dimapur, July 6 (MExN): The Tikhir Region of the NSCN (IM)/GPRN has strongly condemned what it called the provocative action of the Yimchunger Liberation Force (YLF) at Sukiur “A” village on July 3. A press note issued by Peter Thangthong, Executive Officer of the Tikhir Region GPRN, informed that at around 7:30am the members of the YLF came and resorted to blank firing, about 20-30 shots, when the Tikhir Regional authorities were camped there.
The Head GB of the village was also abducted but released later on, according to the press note, but that it was only because of the restraining order from the higher authority that the situation was brought under control. The press note stated that the action of the YLF was highly questionable in view of the 18 December 2007 declaration of peace zone in Tuensang district under the aegis of the ENPO. “The Tikhir Region maintained its restrain while honoring the said declaration and the matter has been brought to the notice of the ENPO,” it stated.
The Tikhir region GPRN stated that the ENPO was expected to safeguard its own declaration in action by “playing a non-partisan role while such violation is taking place”. The press note also cautioned that if the ENPO shied away from its due responsibilities in such volatile situation it would only give the delinquents a free hand and that the Tikhir Region, GPRN, would not be held responsible for any unwanted situation that may occur in the near future.
