Dimapur, June 7 (MExN): Tikhir Tribal Council, Kiphire has appealed to the State Government and NPSC to declare the result as practised earlier unaffected by any outside pressure or prejudice, letting merit determine the result giving equal right and opportunity to both Yimchunger and Tikhir candidates, stating that abeyance of NPSC result is “unconstitutional”.
In a note addressed to the Chief Secretary appended by the council’s president R Daniel Tikhir and vice president S Pongsuthong stated: “The recent imbroglio, the Yimchunger Students’ Union (YAA) forcing the NPSC result to keep in abeyance the declaration of respected and much awaited NPSC result of BT reservation of Yimchunger tribe has given a rude shock to the Tikhir candidates and general public as a whole.” The council also stated that the Home Department in its notification issued in November 26, 2002 clearly states that the Tikhir candidates may avail the “quota reserved for Yimchunger tribe since so far Tikhir is not recognised as a separate tribe.”
The council in the note claimed that based on the Home Department’s order, the Tikhir candidates came out successfully in different competitive exams both in open category and also in BT (Yimchunger) quota in NPSC exam, departmental exam and even in central exams.
Moreover, it mentioned that the Government of Nagaland Personnel and Administrative reform (Administrative Reform) replied to the council that “Tikhir has not been officially recognised as a separate backward tribe. Hence, the reservation of all post under the State Government for Tikhir will be considered from Yimchunger BT quota.”
