Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today performed another protocol by inaugurating a rest house and an administrative officers’ flat here today. The face of Nagaland is changing fast for the people to see during the five years of DAN’s government in the state which is possible all because of the cooperation of the colleagues, bureaucrats, technocrats and the public, said Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
Inaugurating the newly constructed rest house and administrative officers’ flat here, the Chief Minister termed it as another achievement of the DAN government and reiterated that 2007 has become a year of inauguration. Rio also placed on record his appreciation that the local contractors are able to take up work with speed and quality control. He also congratulated the Urban Development for completing the construction and makes it functional.
Reiterating on the need for quality control in creating assets, Rio reminded that without quality control ‘we are creating only liabilities and not assets.’ We should maintain quality while creating infrastructure, Rio said and pointed out that the entire country is today ‘suffering due to the lack of quality control.’ There are so many materials (different qualities of the same material, duplicates) available in the market today and it can cheat consumers and the government, Rio explained. He however reminded that quality control requires self commitment and constant supervision.
Further, he compared quality control to a child health and said that we should produce a healthy child who can be an asset of the society and contribute to the society instead of an unhealthy one. Saying that the time has come not only for action but commitment, Rio assured that his government is committed to the service of the people and would continue to do so even in days to come.
Referring to the forthcoming state assembly election due in the early part of 2008, the Chief Minister asked the people not to fight and shed blood over the election. Election is conducted based on the democratic rights of the people, but you should not take that democracy to the street, Rio said. “This is just the beginning and a message that Nagas have to work and give up the gun culture, he added.”
Health and Family Welfare minister Dr.T.M.Lotha, Forest and Environment Minister Kheto, Parliamentary Secretaries Jongshilemba, Kaito, Nkhao Lotha and also MLA Yankithang Yanthan were also present on the occasion. Earlier, Alun Hangsing ADC chaired the function while Wokha Deputy Commissioner Mikha Lomi tendered vote of thanks.
