Kohima, December 10 (MExN): It is time for the Government of India (GoI) to drive the Indo-Naga peace process towards a solution. The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) stated this today in a representation to the Prime Minister of India through its President, Toniho Yepthomi, and General Secretary, Nribemo Ngullie.
More than a year has gone by since six Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) on a common platform termed the ‘Working Committee’ entered political negotiations with the GoI in October 2017.
The NTC remained “confident” that “during this period of time, both the GoI representative, the official negotiator, and the Working Committee have had sincere and intensive business transactions as much as it was required.”
They maintained that “political decision” is the “need of the hour” now.
“The NTC believes that the parties have sufficiently done justice to requisite negotiations as much as the Nagas have been voicing our desire to have acceptable and honourable solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political problem, and therefore, it is time for the GoI to drive the process towards evolving the solution to the political issue in question,” stated the representation while appreciating the GoI for contemplating to work out an “inclusive solution by taking every concerned stakeholder into confidence.”
The NTC urged the GoI “neither to delay nor to waste time but to bring the negotiations to its logical conclusion.”
