Phek, March 4 (MExN): MLA Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu speaking as the chief guest on the occasion of silver jubilee celebration of Kiddies Corner School today stated that “there is a time for everything under heaven and it is certainly a time for peace and tranquility in the state of Nagaland.”
He said, “Nagas need to rethink the words ‘forgive and forget’ and put these words to practice in our Christian state to free us from the bondage of suffering, self-destruction and the consuming bitterness that imprisons us today. Our mandate as Christians is to operate in the parameters of love, kindness, compassion and forgiveness.”
“Only out of complete forgiveness comes the power of healing and closing of our wounds. The urge, the desire and our thirst for peace and reconciliation are perhaps much more than our thirst for bloodshed, hatred and revenge,’ he added.
The MLA also said that as leaders, one should always take responsibility for the regretful incidents and the social setbacks that have taken place in the past few weeks which is totally unfortunate and disturbing. He said, “It is very sad that the 12th Assembly is going to go down in the annals of history as the most disturbing times of Nagaland. The little time we have left should be judiciously used to promote peace, humility and oneness to strengthen Naga brotherhood.” He also emphasized that, “leaders cannot be nearsighted and live for the moment alone but as leaders, we have to be farsighted enough to see beyond tribes and parties. Governments and parties will come and go but Nagas as a people are here to stay and therefore we have to rise up above tribalism, parochialism or individualism to thrive as brothers.”
Commemorating the occasion of 25 years of existence of Kiddies Corner School, Azo thanked the pioneers for starting a school when it was needed most and for the immense contributions it has given towards the society through the education it has imparted. “Without private schools, Nagaland would not have achieved what it has today. He further encouraged the initiative of setting up good private schools, educational institutions and colleges in Nagaland in the near future as these have become the strongest pillars of human resources development,” he added.
