Kohima, December 5 (MExN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kohima celebrated its annual World Soil Health Day with a theme ‘Be the Solution to Soil pollution’ at K. Station on December 5.
A press release from Senior Scientist and Head Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kohima stated that the programme was chaired by Imtisenla, ACTO (Agronomy).
Longmayanger, ACTO (Agril Extension) presented the keynote address where he highlighted the importance and significance of World Soil Health Day and in addition emphasis on benefit and usage of Soil Health Card.
Kenneth Kath, Secretary VDB, K. Station speaking on the occasion appealed to the KVK officers to give more method demonstration related to soil problems and management practices. A short speech from Kandinu, Ehunnu, Sishunu representative spoke on this occasion.
Zhiete, ACTO (Soil Conservation), highlighted the degradation of soil as most of the pollutant originates from human activities. Soil pollution can be invisible and seen far away, but everyone, everywhere is affected. It is time to preserve and restore soil health because our action determines our future.
The others highlight of the programme included distribution of Soil Health Cards, training on importance of soil health management and distribution of Maize Sheller to the participants. Vote of thanks was delivered by Khekali Sema ACTO (Horti) where she mentioend special thanks to K. Station for arranging and managing the programme and neibouring village for their active participation.
