A fire broke out at a restaurant in South Point, BOC, Kohima, early Saturday morning.

An official from the Fire Station, South Kohima, informed that the fire originated from the top floor of a building housing the restaurant. The blaze reportedly started in the restaurant’s compact kitchen due to a suspected gas cylinder leakage.

The fire station received a call from the restaurant owner around 5:50 AM, the official said. As the establishment was located close to the station, fire personnel responded immediately and managed to control the blaze within 12 minutes.

The official added that the fire was contained before it could spread to nearby structures in the densely populated area. One fire tender, six firemen and local residents assisted in extinguishing the fire.
