For timely delivery: Supply Chain Management launched in Nagaland

Dimapur, November 28 (MExN): For ensuring timely deliverance of goods and services to the citizens of Nagaland, Supply Chain Management (SCM) was launched on November 28 by Director, Public Distribution, Ministry of Public distribution and Consumer Affairs, Delhi, D.K. Gupta in the conference Hall of Directorate of Food and Civil Supplies Dimapur.  

According to a DIPR report, during the launching programme, Gupta said that SCM is a powerful monitoring tool for tracking stock inventory starting from the godown to the fair price shops. Through this application, it will make the beneficiaries aware about the availability of food grains, he maintained.  

DK Gupta also reiterated during the programme that as per Supreme Court Order all the beneficiaries availing subsidized food grains in Nagaland and across the country are required compulsorily to seed their ration cards with Aadhaar on or before March 31, 2019.  

While congratulating the Directorate of Food and Civil supplies Director, Dimapur, Asangla Imti, NIC, Dimapur and all officials involved for developing the application, Gupta remarked, “It is a big achievement for the state of Nagaland.” Under the National Food Security Act, Nagaland has completed all the activities for the beneficiaries under the said Act, besides one component (FPS Automation) which is still pending; Gupta said and encouraged the department to complete it at the earliest.  

Informing that presently Nagaland covers 2,84,934 Ration cards with 1401378 beneficiaries, DIO, NIC, Dimapur, Lipok maintained that Targeted Public Distribution system (TPDS) has been computerized, with an application developed by NIC, in order to meet the challenges of timely procurement and distribution of foodgrains. With the launch of SCM, it would ensure stock position information of all the storage facilities in the State as well as track movement of grains, which would be a powerful instrument to the department for effective decision making and ensure timely distribution of Food grains to the beneficiaries, he observed.  

It may be mentioned that a three member team led by D.K.Gupta, from the Ministry of Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Delhi, Kumaran from Central Project Management, Delhi and Sumit from NIC Delhi in collaboration with NIC Dimapur, successfully developed the SCM application.
