Mon (MExN): In the aftermath of the clashes between the rival NSCN factions on October 5-6, the situation at Lapa Lampong (Tizit) still remains tense. About 52 families have been displaced from their homes. Buildings, plantation and vehicles bear the testimony of the bullets which were sprayed on it. Normal classes in the village schools remains disrupted and have been closed for over 2 weeks now.  People in the area are also reported to be gripped by fear psychosis.

Meanwhile the Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has strongly reacted and lambasted the ADC of Tizit in regard to his handling of the situation and demanded his immediate expulsion from Tizit and to be replaced by a more responsible administrator immediately.

The KSU has taken strong exception to the ‘paradoxical’ remarks made by the ADC. When asked about the situation, the ADC had reportedly replied that the issue was a political problem which the Centre and State government cannot solve. He is also reported to have abused the visiting KSU team as a “non-entity”. “Such kind of remarks made by an officer is uncalled for as he is supposed to deliver goods to the innocent public”, said Manpong Konyak, President of KSU.

The ADC was reportedly in an inebriated state when the factional firefight were on and escalating.
