TNAI Nagaland flays alleged assault of nurse at CHC Tseminyu; demands 'swift action'

Kohima, April 20 (MExN): The Nagaland branch of the Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) has expressed deep shock and outrage over the alleged physical assault of a nurse on the night of April 18 at Community Health Centre (CHC) Tseminyu.

In an official statement, TNAI Nagaland identified the perpetrator as one Ngilo Tep and described the attack on a healthcare worker carrying out official duties as “absolutely unacceptable.”

Reminding the public that any unprovoked assault on a government servant is a serious criminal offence, the organisation has urged law enforcement to take “swift and stringent action” against the perpetrator.

“The law must take its full course, not only to deliver justice to the victim, but to send a clear and unequivocal message that violence against healthcare workers will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” it added.

TNAI Nagaland has also requested that the assaulted nurse be transferred to a facility of her choice, emphasising that her physical and emotional well-being must be given the highest priority.

“No nurse should ever have to work under threat, fear, or duress,” it added.

The TNAI Nagaland expressed its full support for the victim and said it remains committed to advocating for the safety and dignity of all nurses.
