The Nagaland Chamber Choir (TNCC) enthralled the audience to a compelling, euphonious evening at Lorin Hall, Tetso College, today.
The concert was held as a moving send-off to TNCC as they prepare to compete with the finest choirs from across the globe at the 12th World Choir Games from July 3-13 in Gangneung, South Korea.
Incidently, TNCC is the only choir from India to qualify and compete in the world's biggest choir competition which takes place every two years on different continents.
The 30-member Choir with Hito Kiho as the choral conductor delivered an emotive stellar performance with an opening to ‘As long as I have music’ by Eudinice Palaruan and delivered ten more pieces.
‘Today we recognise not just their talent and musical powers, but also the countless hours of hardwork, determination and the indomitable spirit that has brought them here,’ said Meripeni Zares, member of TNCC during the event.
Having participated in the 4th Asia Pacific Choir Games organized by the INTERKULTUR from October 21-28, 2017, TNCC won 2 silver medals and 2 golden diplomas which qualify the Choir for a direct entry to the championship this year.
TNCC will be competing in two categories, viz mixed chamber choir and contemporary choral music, the competition which is only seven days away.
Dr Limawati Pongen, Coordinator TNCC speaking to The Morung Express, after the event held that TNCC's participation in the championship will be highly important and beneficial and add immense value not just to the World Choir Games, but he believed that the team will be an Ambassador of goodwill for Nagaland with our rich tradition and culture at an international level and hope to bring laurels to the country.
Acknowledging God as the giver of Music, TNCC established in the year 2003, remains committed to the vision to promote Naga indigenous music, choral singing and also to encourage and sustain talent for effective music ministry.
During the concert, prayer of blessing was pronounced by Gwanilo Khing, Pastor Rengma Baptist Church Sovima and piano solo was performed by Hotolu Yeptho.
