To change our world

Dr Kakheto Zhimomi

Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr.—Names from our history books….. names from the fabric of our lives, name that hold in high esteem, because these people changed the world. By any gauge of historical measures, they live truly successful lives. They did so with unswerving energy. They did so with passion. They did so because of the single facet of life that more than any other determines great success: total commitment to a good and noble purpose. So what about us?
How can we change our world? How can we build an exciting and thriving nation? Can we achieve that without overhauling each and every individual? Answer lies in the consciousness of our honest purpose in life. It is this purpose, this ever pervading passion that ignites the very best in us. Our lives and our influence upon those around us, are fashioned by one aspect more than any other: the level and focus of our commitment.

Today, we live in a politically correct culture. A world where, generally speaking, commitment lies only as deep as the realm of current popular opinion. Whatever is going to be easiest…..or make us the most popular….or make us the most money…..that must be the way to go. Today, the word “Struggle” is Greek to many younger generations. We must close our eyes to the situation around us i.e. easy going life style with extorted and embezzled money from the government’s coffer. The sweetness and aftermath blessing of life’s struggle should be engrained in the minds of the up coming younger generation. Our creator also created emperor moth to teach a lesson to mankind. The moth struggle to go through the tiny opening in the cocoon as it is necessary to force fluid from its body to the wings so that it would only come after the struggle. If any hand prevents the struggle by pulling it out, the body will be swollen and the wing shriveled- thus the moth will remain crippled for life. Many of our children are likewise crippled by no other than their own parents. It is very foolish on the part of the parents to give all the luxuries and comfort of life to the children right from the very tender age, depriving them of the experience and the beauty of life, which God has set for mankind. The very purpose of the power of struggle is lost.

When we look for things upon which to truly marvel, what do we see? Who are the people who earn our feelings of greatest respect and admiration? Those who we hold in the highest esteem are the men and women who have remained steadfast in their commitment, true to their principles, and unshakeable in their resolve under any circumstances. When will our leaders ever set an example and start practicing what they preach? It is high time to stop buying cheap popularity and fame with embezzled public money. It is no time for demanding respect by showing off with all the luxuries attained by fraud means. In stead of putting behind the bars those unscrupulous thugs, they get the throne and the pulpit even in the Church. Shame on those, who honors such kind of people. It is time for a revolution- a revolution to eradicate the rotten, infected and contaminated persons from the face of the earth. Let all Nagas wake up from its deep and long slumber and throw Jonah out of the rocked Nagaland ship.
