A three day ‘Career Spotlight Seminar’ with industry experts from the corporate sector kicked off on August 21 at IMC Hall, Dimapur. The event, organized by Toka Multipurpose Co-operative Society (MPCS) aimed to bridge the gap between academics and industry, preparing students for life after graduation and a smooth transition into the corporate world.
Featuring Anil Tripathi, Senior VP of Business at Expertrons, as the keynote speaker, the interactive seminar was attended by students and youths from across Dimapur.
Tripathi highlighted four key sectors with the highest employment potential: Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI), tourism, automobile industry, and retail. “So if you are looking for a career or job, for the next ten years these are the sectors which will give you maximum number of opportunities,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of being proactive in life, warning that waking up late could result in missed opportunities. With 30 years of diverse industry experience, the speaker gave a brief explanation on BFSI and its relation to other sectors of the industry.
Tripathi also advised the students to tailor their resumes to match different opportunities and the need for quality skill sets across various platforms. He encouraged students to approach their careers with confidence and learn interview skills.
In his welcome address, Toka MPCS Secretary and Managing Director, Kathi Chishi, spoke about the society’s 20-year journey, currently employing 845 individuals. He underscored the importance of exploring opportunities in the corporate sector, noting that only 0.01% of Nagaland’s population is engaged in this area, which has led to high levels of unskilled unemployment in the state.
As such, he encouraged the youths to utilize this opportunity to learn and be motivated.
SKK General Secretary, Kasheto Kiba, also delivered a short speech during the event.
The seminar concluded with a Q&A session, offering students a chance to engage directly with the speakers. Anil Tripathi is scheduled to speak at similar seminars on August 22 at Western Sumi Hoho Ki (Chekiye) and on August 23 at Capital Convention Centre, Kohima.
The event is being held in partnership with Expertrons, and collaboration with the Highway Area Sumi Student Union (HASSU), All Sumi Students Union (SKK), Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) and All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU).
