The police was still to ascertain the authenticity of a picture showing a man allegedly arrested in Sivasagar, Assam and purported to be the thief, who stole Rs. 14 lakhs from the SBI Dimapur main branch on April 10.
As per reports though unconfirmed, the man was arrested while trying to steal cash at a bank in Sivasagar on May 4 under similar circumstances as was seen at the SBI Dimapur.
The Dimapur police when contacted said it was still too early to connect the man to the April 10 bank theft. While stating that efforts were on to contact the Sivasagar police, it was added that a clearer picture would emerge only after corroborating with the Sivasagar police.
