Dimapur | June 20

In a first, the Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) has set a uniform tuition fee for students which will come into effect from June 21.

This was informed at a press conference at the DNSU office, Dimapur today. Taking into account the varied grievances received from parents on the exorbitant tuition fees charged, the DNSU officials said the need for a uniform fee was felt.

As such after consultation with parents, a meeting with the tribal units was held on May 31 to set a uniform tuition fee.

The Apex student body of Dimapur maintained that some teachers were charging Rs 800 to 1000 with the number of students exceeding ten, which they viewed, was “too much.”

Accordingly DNSU has set uniform tuition fees for different categories of subjects and classes.

It cautioned the proprietors to run separate hostels for boys and girls and made it mandatory for the hostels to keep a warden.

The student body also advised the proprietors to consider the mess fees for holiday period while maintaining that 90% were running without proper registration and failing to comply with the set rules by the concerned department.

It further cautioned that if the hostels fail to comply with the department’s set rules, the matter will be handed over to police or the concerned authority.

The DNSU has informed the proprietors of Dimapur based hostels to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the DNSU office within two months from the date of this publication after which the DNSU officials will check on the hostels.
