Toshi Wungtung apprises Union Ministers of State issues

New Delhi, April 26 (MExN): Advisor for I&PR, SCERT and Village Guard (VG), Toshi Wungtung called on Union Ministers Kiren Kijiju, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, and Prakash Javadekar in their respective offices in New Delhi on April 26.  

During the meeting with Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, Wungtung highlighted the important role of Village Guards in the State, especially in the interior parts bordering Myanmar, stated a press release from PRO (IPR), Nagaland House, New Delhi.  

Meanwhile, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Human Resource Development Prajash Javadekar conveyed to the Advisor that all the schools will be re-strengthened and upgraded, while RMSA, SSA will come under SCERT. All the District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) centres will be re-strengthened and also set up wherever there is a need in any district, it was further informed.  

In the meeting with Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Wungtung spoke regarding endangered animals in the State. He also shared serious concern on shifting cultivation (jhum field) prevalent in Nagaland.  

According to the release, Sharma said awareness programme for community participation, NGOs and individuals must be conducted to preserve the endangered animals and forest. The ministry will look into the matters for compensation and help to the farmer/villagers to protect the forest as well as the endangered animals in the State, he assured.
