The Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS) on October 29 convened an emergency meeting at CKS Hall Tuensang during which it resolved to initiate total bandh within Chang jurisdiction starting from November 1.

The emergency meeting which was attended by all the Chang apex bodies was convened after the 30-day ultimatum issued by the CKS to the State government lapsed.

On September 28, 2021, the CKS had demanded transfer of all the DDOs and files of government establishments concerning C/Saddle, New Chingmei, Chingmei, Waoshu, Yimpang and Taknyu villages from Noklak to Tuensang district administration within 30 days.

CKS President Nungsanglemba Chang said that on July 30, 2020, the State government had issued a notification which clearly mentioned that during the interim period, six Chingmei villages including EAC Hq of Chingmei will administratively fall under Tuensang district. However, even after a year, the notification has not been implemented, the CKS President stated, expressing disappointment at the government’s inaction.

In this regard, the 30-day ultimatum was served to the government on September 28 to implement the same, he informed.

However, even after the deadline ended on October 28, the CKS has not received any verbal or written response from the government, Chang added.

Expressing disappointment, the CKS President said that if the government fails to respond within three days, before November 1, a total bandh would be initiated in the Chang jurisdiction.
