The Naga Kitchen, Chedema today hosted a program on Tourism Awareness and Capacity Building for the youths of Chedema Village and Rüsoma Village in a joint collaboration with the Department of Tourism.
"The Experience Naga Kitchen", conceptualized and initiated by Dr. Keneilhoulie Medom earlier won the "Best Innovation in Sustainable Tourism" on the occassion of World Tourism Day in 2025. With an increasing number of tourists in the state, the initiative is being envisioned to enable tourists to experience and see the culture and tradition of the Nagas at any time of the year, boosting tourism in the state beyond the festival season.
While it had been functioning without a proper place, a permanent venue for The Naga Kitchen is currently under construction in Chedema wherein at least 70% is now completed. This is where the Tourism Awareness and Capacity Building Program was held prior to its completion to impart knowledge on tourism related activities to the youths of two villages- Chedema and Rüsoma in the presence of the respective Village councils and officials from the Department of Tourism.
Speaking on the occassion, Veyielo Doulo, Director of Tourism underlined that tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in the state and called upon the young people to venture into tourism sector.
He also stated that there are only 7 Tour Operators in the state and very few Tour Guides in Kohima district. Highlighting the prospects of tourism in the state, he called upon the youths to prepare themselves to welcome tourists to Nagaland and to uphold the values of 'Naga hospitality. '
Highlights of the programme included invocation by Nielaphrezo Chakrüno, Evangelist, Razha-Chedema Ministry, introduction to Tourism by Veteu Koza, Asst. Director, Department of Tourism, Introduction to Tour Operation, Principles of Tour Guiding by David Angami, Proprietor, India Trail, Basics of Hospitality (Theory) by Abigail R. Solo, Tourist Officer and Basics of Hospitality (Practical) by Shenochu Lomou, Tourist Officer while a special number was presented by Ülikhrei (Female voice) and Dr Keneilhoulie Medom, Proprietor and Founder, The Naga Kithchen chaired the programme.
