
Wokha, April 22 (DIPR): Nagaland & Assam Governor, PB Acharya urged the womenfolk to come out from the inferiority complex, as women are the backbone and they play a pivotal role in making the society strong, spiritually and economically and to be bold as all are equal in India.
Gracing the Lotha Women’s Summit under the theme ‘Towards Pledge for Parity’, organised by the Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH) in partnership with the Department of Women Resource Development, Nagaland at Wokha on April 22, as the chief guest, PB Acharya said that for the first time an independent organization, Lotha Eloe Hoho has taken a bold step to fight for equality and parity for the women.
“We are living in civilized society for thousands of years and we are all equal and second to none, and he added that women cannot be discriminated as they are the mothers, daughters and sisters and there is no life without them,” said the Governor. He further urged the womenfolk to come up with a clear goal and to stand up and organise themselves to strengthened our economic system.
Acharaya said that India being a democratic and secular country, where we respect diversity it should not be difficult to strengthened and empower ourselves and the methods required are the 3 E’s; Education, Electricity and Empowerment. “Our education system should be a centre of knowledge with skills and for prosperity electricity is required, as without out electricity there cannot be empowerment,” he added.
President, LEH, Mhonchumi Humtsoe, in her keynote address said that this Summit is organised in continuation of the LEH continues effort towards socio-economic upliftment of the women and in line with the International Women’s Day theme ‘Pledge for Parity’. “The Hoho aims to create a platform for women to interact directly with Policy makers, Government officials of various Departments and provide opportunity to avail all information about Government schemes and policies,” she added.
Joint Director, Women Resource Development Department, Vilone Sakhrie also spoke at the programme.
