Kohima, February 4 (MExN): The Tenyimi People Organisation (TPO) has decided to “continue to aspire to live together under one political roof” and also called for reconstituting a ‘fully represented Naga Hoho.’
These were among the four points agreed upon after thorough deliberation on the tabled agenda at a TPO’s presidential council meeting held at Hotel Millennium, Kohima on February 1.
According to the meeting minute issued here to the press by PTO President Timikha Koza and General Secretary, Vipopal Kintso, the presidential council meeting was fully represented by all 10 constituent organisations of TPO along with the BOA member.
On Naga political issue, the House decided that as “Tenyimi people and land remain dissected into three different states (Nagaland, Manipur and Assam) Tenyimis shall continue to aspire to live together under one political roof,” it said.
In this connection, the TPO appealed ‘all parties concerned to put on play sincerity and truthfulness so that mutual respect rather than imposition becomes the foundation of a political settlement which is inclusive and lasting,” it added.
Recalling the contributions and sacrifices made by the Tenyimi People towards the Naga political movement, often in the frontline and undergoing “tribulations and loss,” the House also declared that the Tenyimi people “still stand by the ideology and principle of our pioneering leaders who had given their utmost towards Nagas as a people and a nation.”
On Naga Hoho, land dispute issues
Meanwhile, the constituent organisations of TPO also agreed to continue “to honour and stand by the Yehzabo (Constitution) of Naga Hoho as adopted in March 1998 and revised in October 2013.”
However, the House agreed that the official of present Naga Hoho were not “elected in tune with the Yehzabo but rather in contradiction of the very concept and principles of it” and “totally violated Article 16 of the Yehzabo” dealing with the election of office bearers.
To this, TPO stated that it “does not recognise the so-called official of Naga Hoho” and called upon all the Naga Tribe Organisations to “come together and re-constitute a fully represented Naga Hoho which shall function and work for the interest of the Naga people.”
On land dispute in Kezoltsa/Kojürü/Kazing, the House agreed that it is long overdue to bring the dispute to a logical conclusion and entrusted upon the Board of Arbitrators (BOA) to resolve the issue within a period of six month.
Meanwhile, on the expiry of the present TPO tenure, the House also decided to organise a General Session at the earliest and agreed on the proposal of the Poumai Hoho to host the said confluence. The specific venue and time shall be notified at the earliest.
The meeting commenced with an invocation prayer pronounced by Ashiphri Zo, Secretary Administration.
