Deputy CM TR Zeliang and entourage with Phek DC, SP, and others in Phek town on November 11.

Kohima, November 11 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang, who also oversees the National Highway portfolio, embarked on a four-day tour to inspect highway projects across Phek, Tuensang, Kiphire, Shamator, and Mokokchung districts. During this tour, Zeliang aims to assess ongoing projects and survey newly proposed National Highway developments.
On the first day, Zeliang inspected the NH 702A and NH 202K stretches, engaging with Thuvopisumi villagers to appeal for their cooperation. He urged local communities to refrain from obstructing highway projects and to support the government and contractors in completing the work on schedule.
In a meeting with NHIDCL officials in Meluri, the Deputy CM emphasized the importance of completing the NH 202K project within its stipulated timeline. Addressing various communities, he acknowledged the challenge of stalled projects, revealing that around 15 National Highway projects in Nagaland have been delayed due to land ownership disputes. Zeliang encouraged landowners to accept government-fixed compensation rates to facilitate smoother project execution.
Acknowledging that Nagaland’s road conditions have suffered due to insufficient funds for timely maintenance, Zeliang expressed optimism for the state’s connectivity future, projecting that by 2040, Nagaland will be connected from east to west and north to south.
Zeliang is scheduled to continue his tour on November 12, visiting Kiphire, Shamator, and Longkhim Chare, where he will meet with various tribal bodies and village representatives, as stated by the Media Cell of the Deputy CM's office.
