Traffic driving school inaugural in Kohima

Kohima, February 1: The inaugural programme of traffic driving school and launching of bicycles for traffic control and police station will take place from February 3 to 5, 2014 at SP office, Kohima.

Starting from 11:00 AM onwards, the inaugural address and distribution of bicycles will be done by Kohima ADC Asangla Imti. SDPO Shouka Kakheto will chair the function while Kohima SP Rothihu Tetseo will make introduction. Deputy SP (T) Melite Kapfo will highlight the concept note while Lovikali DTO, Kohima, will deliver keynote address.
 
Launching of bicycles for traffic control and police station from February 3
On day one (February 3), Melite will highlight Motor Vehicle Act- driving license, registration, insurance, permit, countersigned, fitness certificate, pollution certificate, re-registration, over loading, road obstruction, HSRP, tinted glass, number plate, VIP red light, RTA, power of police on duty, helmet, drunken driving, seat belt and causes of accident locally. Further, motor vehicle inspector and Dr. John RMO will talk on bureaucratic paper process for driving license, permit, regulation, fitness, pollution, registration, tax payment, rules of road act and medical basic first aid during vehicle accident respectively.

On day 2 (February 4), PWD officials will enlighten road construction and cost of building roads, life of the metalled road, optimum care for the metalled road, penal provisions of the National Highway Act. Dr. John, RMO will talk on health precautions before and during journey, medical reasons for certain drivers not to drive (Color blindness, chronic heart patient, chronic nerve complication, chronic diabetics, epilepsy etc, drunken driving, STDs.

Resource person from tourism department will brief cleanliness of vehicle, seating capacity, vehicle hire meaning, forgotten baggage/items of passenger or tourist, smoking, chewing of pan and tobacco, throwing or disposal of water while on the journey, personal hygiene of drivers and etiquettes of drivers. SDPO Kohima will highlight Cr. P.C, IPC, evidence act, consequence of other laws (NLTP, NSA, NDPS etc), for the driver and vehicle when used for the commission of crime or involved in a criminal case as a victim, minor acts/local laws and administrative orders.

Day 3 (February 5) will touch on all traffic signboard, all hand sign language used by drivers, all hand sign used by traffic personnel, vehicle accident investigation, traffic police duty after the accident report, do’s and don’t for driver after vehicle accident, insurance claim, case study of traffic regulations and major accidents, vehicle mechanical check and safety, duty of the driver in vehicle maintenance, life of type and engine, engine no. and chassis no, tyre rotation theory, easy running defects repairs. Such topics will be shared by traffic instructors and MTO. Practical session will take place at 1:00 PM, follow by closing function at 2:00 PM.
