Traffic regulation for Christmas season

Dimapur, November 21 (MExN): MLA and Advisor, Sericulture & Cooperation Azheto Zhimomi accompanied by SP Dimapur, DySP Traffic and DMC Advisors today went around town to assess the situation and discussed plan of action to ease the traffic congestion for the coming Christmas season. For the convenience of shoppers, vehicles entries to Hongkong Market and Hazi Park have been restricted. Auto rickshaws shall not be allowed to be parked at Church Road and M.P. Road except for dropping and picking up passengers.
Further all vehicles coming from Chumukedima side shall enter the town via Old Dhansiri Bridge while vehicles proceeding toward Chumukedima shall exit the town via New Dhansiri Bridge and via Full Najarjan to 3rd Mile.
After thorough discussion, the inspecting team has resolved that all the vehicles in the town area, especially at Church Road, G.S. Road, M.P. Road and Circular Road should be parked “horizontally.” A sum of “Rs. 100 as penalty” would be imposed against those vehicles parked unlawfully and may even lead to seizure of vehicle by Traffic police.
Zhimomi stated that an arrangement is being made to have a car parking lot at Church Road which is expected be ready for public service by April 2012. He also appealed to all the public especially vehicle owners to cooperate with the authority and maintain proper parking so as to enable free vehicular movement in the town. In this regard Zhimomi also directed traffic personnel of Dimapur and DMC Traffic Control to maintain strict rules and regulation.
