Dimapur, March 23 (MExN): The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Technologies Display and Dissemination Facility (DTDDF), School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Nagaland University (NU) organised one day workshops at Nagaland Tool Room and Training Centre (NTTC) and Kudatech Skill Centre (KSC), Dimapur on March 20.

According to a press release received on Tuesday, the workshops were conducted on the topic ‘Technologies of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for the People of Nagaland.’

At the NTTC, a total of 70 persons including faculty, technical staff and trainees participated in the workshop which was chaired by NTTC-Dimapur Principal Er Petehetuo Miasalhou. At the Kudatech Skill Centre, Principal Er Kapil Thapa chaired the workshop which was attended by 90 participants. Both the Principals informed the participants in their respective institutions, about the theme and importance of the workshop, the release stated. 

Resource person Dr NK Patra who is the Exercising Authority, DTDDF, spoke about details of scientific research and societal activities of the DAE, and activities of DTDDF, SASRD which is functioning in collaboration with BARC, Mumbai.

The release stated that Dr Patra gave a brief introduction of BARC and their domain of works such as nuclear technology, bio-medics, agriculture, food security, environment, health, etc. Further, he highlighted about scope of self employment and entrepreneurship by BARC technologies as well as procedural aspects for getting license of BARC’s technologies to start own entrepreneurship.   

During the technical session different technologies of DTDDF, namely, ‘Domestic Water Purifier’; ‘Foldable Solar Dryer’ (FSD), ‘Soil Organic Carbon Detection Kit (SOCDK), ‘Fluoride Detection Kit’ (FDK) and ‘Irradiated Food Items’ were demonstrated. All participants were encouraged to adopt BARC technologies in order to start entrepreneurial journey.
