Kohima, April 25 (DIPR): Commissioner and Secretary Abhishek Singh (IAS) called upon new Nagaland Civil Service (NCS) and Nagaland Secretariat Service (NSS) recruits to strive to ensure better opportunity for all children as they venture into their assigned task.
“Let us strive to ensure a better opportunity for all children – in education, health and even other sectors, as we venture into our new assigned task,” he urged while speaking as special guest at the inaugural programme of Combined Foundation Course for NCS (P) 2018 batch and NSS 48th batch at Multipurpose Hall, Administrative Training Institute (ATI) on April 24.
“While we administer our programmes, take decisions or even implement schemes, gender equality and balance has to be at the back of our heads,” Singh added.
Pointing out that life in the outpost will be tough, he urged the NCS officers to retrospect the reason of them joining the service. Take your assignments as an opportunity, and create your own works to stay active, he encouraged.
Meanwhile, Singh encouraged the NSS trainees to focus on how to improve the functioning of the Government and provide better assistance to the society. Lamenting the poor work culture in some departments at Secretariat, he called on the trainees to work towards making a difference in such areas.
Singh also encouraged officers and trainees to learn the basic skills and operation of computers, besides making the optimum use of social media. Always keep the spirit of inquiry, he added.
Stressing that the training is aimed at inculcating values significant for their careers, the Commissioner and Secretary also noted, “The future of the people in the State is in your hands, and how you are trained and groomed at ATI will decide how you deliver the justice to the people.”
The main objective of the training is to acquaint and inculcate in the trainees the spirit of good governance, and the basic knowledge of the political, social and economic scenario in the State, said Director, ATI, R. Asenla Keitzar (IAS) in the keynote address. Besides the exposure trips aimed at widening the trainees’ horizon and providing a handout exposure, the training will also provide opportunity to interact with varied personalities from different fields, she added.
The training is also aimed at keeping the trainees mentally, physically and spiritually fit, for which ample opportunities will be provided, she added. Assuring a comfortable stay at ATI, she reiterated the department’s support at every stage of the training.
Meanwhile, Additional Director, ATI, Kevin Zehol (NCS) called the 45 trainees fortunate and expressed optimism that they will have fond memories to take back and cherish after their services.
