Training for BLOs held at Kohima

Kohima, October 6 (DIPR): The Training program for Booth Level officers (BLOs) of 9- Kohima Town and 10- Northern Angami- I, in connection with Special Summary Revision of photo Electoral Roll was held on October 6 with Asst. Election officer, R.Mhathung and NeilezoTep SDO (JUDICIAL) and AERO 10 Northern Angami-I as the resource persons at DC’s conference Hall Kohima.  

Stressing on the ‘reading of relevant part/Section of Photo Electoral rolls in Gram Sabha/Local Bodies and RWA meetings etc and verification of names”, the resource person R. Mhathung said it was the most important activity of the schedule of revision and requested the BLOs to organize a meeting on 7th October and 14th October 2016, with the village council in rural areas, Panchayat, wards, colonies and in urban areas including youth Organization, Students’ organization, Women organization, Political parties and awareness Group in their respective Villages or towns. He stated that in the draft electoral roll, if there are 10 members or more in a particular household, it should be thoroughly verified and if there are any anomalies or discrepancies, it should be corrected.  

Neilezotep who also spoke as the resource person emphasized on the period for filling claims and objection forms. He suggested to the BLOs that only individual application is to be accepted. However, individual presenting applications of the same family household should be received. He also informed that a person who attains 18 years or above as on 1st January 2017 can apply for inclusion in the electoral rolls (a person born on or after 2nd January 1999 are not eligible for enrollment or cannot be enrolled during this revision period.  

Also, the training for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of 8- Western Angami and 11- Northern Angami-II in connection with Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll was held at DC’s Conference Hall Kohima on October 4 with ADC and AERO Chiephobozou, Linda Solo and SDO (C) and AERO Sechu/Zubza, T. Lanusenla Longkumer as the resource persons.  

T. Lanusenla Longkumer emphasized to the BLOs that the Booth Level Agent (BLA) is a representative of recognized political party appointed by the authorized party official. One BLA is to be appointed in each Polling Station and the BLA should have his/her name enrolled in the electoral roll of the same polling station. Adding that if any recognized political party representative approaches the BLO and produce appointment, the BLO should allow that BLA to be seated next to him or her on the special campaign dates. She urged them to co-ordinate with each other while receiving claim and objection forms and to scrutinize each and every form together and also to guide the applicants in filling the forms.   Linda Solo, who also spoke as resource person, said the most important activity of the schedule of revision was the reading of relevant party or section of photo electoral rolls in Gram Sabha or Local bodies, RWA meeting etc. and verification of names. She also informed that Special Campaign dates for receiving claims and objections will be held on October 8 and 22.
