
Kohima, March 21 (MExN): Training on ‘forest fire risk mitigation and emergency response’ is underway in Administrative Training Institute, Kohima, jointly organized by National Institute of Disaster Management, New Delhi and ATI, Nagaland.
The inaugural programme was graced by Lithrongla G. Chishi, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland Cooperation Department and Director ATI as the guest of honour. Topics that are to be taken up in this three days Program are, “Disaster Management Concept and Framework”, “Ecological aspect of Forest Fire Risk Management- Integration with holistic framework”, Role of Geo-Informatics for predicting forest fire- Forest fire risk modeling”, Forest fire alert system and Pre-warning”, “Climate Change and Forest Fire”, NDRF roles in Forest Fire preparedness and Emergency response based on Uttarkhan forest fire 2016”, “Community participation in forest fire Management” etc.
The resource persons for the programme are, Dr. Anil. K. Gupta, NIDM, Dr. A. D. Kaushik, NIDM, Sh. Bhupendra Mehar, Dy. Commandant, NDRF, Johny Rongmai, NSDMA, Jonjibemo, NSDMA and Dr. Hovithal Sothu, ATI. ATI in a press release stated that total of 43 officials from Administration, Forest Department, Home Guards and Civil Defence and Fire and Emergency Services are participating in the program. The programme is jointly directed by Dr. A. D. Kaushik, NIDM and Dr. Hovithal Sothu, ATI, Nagaland.
