Kohima, May 11 (DIPR): Advocacy training on harmful effects of Tobacco and COTPA 2003 was held at DC Conference Hall Kohima on May 11.
In the programme ADC Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi gave a short speech on the harmful effects of Tobacco where she highlighted about the awareness of Tobacco. She requested all the members to know about the causes of tobacco and its negative impact on our life. She also reminded that 21 years and below are not allowed to take tobacco.
The presentation show case that India is the largest oral cancer in the world, where it also shows that Nagaland was the second highest in tobacco take in India. DNO, DTCC Kohima, Arenla Walling said that this programme was launch in Dimapur and Kohima on 2008 and 2009 respectively.
She stressed upon the scope of the act of smoking and tobacco where she mentioned three (3) Acts to be enforced (1) Prohibition of smoking in Public place (2) Advertisement and Poster to be put in various Public places and school and (3) Sale of Tobacco to the Minors are Prohibited. Violation of the above Acts, will be punishable by the concerned officials.
