Training highlights importance of safe drinking water in Wokha

Wokha, November 25 (MExN): 100 days IEC campaign under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to provide functional tap connection to all schools and anganwadi centre was held for Wokha block on November 24 and for Chukitong and Wozhuro block on November 25 at Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH) Conference Hall, Wokha. 

Delivering the keynote address to the participants of Wokha block, Er Imnazulu Ao, EE PHED Wokha highlighted about the aims and objectives of JJM and the ongoing campaign. He assured that the department will do everything possible to make JJM a success and also urged the participants to work in unison to maintain the ODF Status and create conducive environment for a healthy life

Vimezo, S&H Consultant, PHED Wokha spoke on healthy sanitary practices. He illustrated on the importance of solid-liquid waste management, the importance of maintaining sanitary toilet, keeping oneself and surroundings clean and to practice hand washing with soap which has become all the more important during this pandemic. He spoke on the role that anganwadi workers, teachers and ASHA workers has to play in bringing behavioral change in children and to inculcate in them good sanitary practices. 

Er Aremo, Chemist, PHED Wokha elaborated on the importance of safe drinking water, the different water contaminants and their ill effects, water- sanitation related diseases and the importance of water quality monitoring and surveillance. 

School teachers, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, WATSAN members, village council members etc from various villages attended the programme. The programme was chaired by Er Chenithung Ezong, JE PHED Wokha and Er Zuchamo Kikon, JE PHED Wokha delivred the vote of thanks. 

Earlier, the same programme was conducted for Bhandari, Changpang and Ralan block.
