Training on mushroom production tech for Entrepreneurship Development held

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 28 (MExN): The ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland centre and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur organised a four day training programme on ‘Mushroom Production Technology for Entrepreneurship Development’ from September 17 to 20 at ICAR, Nagaland Centre.  

Dr Rajesha G, Scientist (Plant Pathology) and E Lireni Kikon, SMS (Plant Protection), coordinated the training programme. The training programme was mainly focused to development of entrepreneur towards the mushroom production to meet out the demand of mushroom consumption.  

During the training programme, different lectures on various topics were taught and practical demonstrations were covered. In addition to course coordinators, other resource persons included Z James Kikon, ACTO (Soil Science); Imtisenla Walling, Mekhrulo Mero; Dr. Moanaro; Kenny V Rhetso; Bikash Sharma; Stephen and Budhin.  

During the valedictory programme, the trainees expressed their gratitude and suggested for conducting spawn production training so as to increase the availability of spawn in the state.  

Joint Director, Dr DJ Rajkhowa expressed his contentment to see the interest of local women for mushroom cultivation. During the programme, he also encouraged the farmers towards the establishment of mushroom spawn production units as an enterprise in every district of Nagaland to meet out the demand of the spawn availability for commercial mushroom cultivation.  

A total of 32 farmers including 25 farm women from Longleng, Phek and Dimapur districts attended the training programme.
