Zunheboto, September 8 (MExN): ATMA Suruhuto Block, Zunheboto organized training programme on ‘breeding of common carps’ at Medical colony, Suruhuto town on September 7. 

A press release from ATMA Suruhuto block stated that Niheto Sumi, fishery demonstrator, illustrated the rearing of spawn and breeding technique along with the importance of common carps as an ideal species for aquaculture. 

Qhenito Yeptho, BTT Convenor demonstrated the farmers on cultivation of winter crop (Cabbage) where he explained about the importance of preparing seed bed or seed trays and various intercultural operations such as spacing, transplanting time, weeding, insect-pest control, proper irrigation and timely harvesting. 

On September 8, cultivation of carrot was also shown by Yeptho where he apprised the need of sandy loam or loamy soils for growing long slender straight carrots as well as maintaining proper spacing’s in rows and plant to plant and covering the seed bed with a mix of sand and leaf mould. Farm school on Fishery was also inaugurated by Yeptho with K Hokugha Shikhu as the farm teacher.

At the end of each training programme seeds of sweet pea, carrot, cabbage along with surgical face mask was distributed to the farmers. A total of 38 farmers participated during these two days of training programmes.
