Kohima, February 7 (MExN): In continuation with the initiative of Department of Economics & Statistics, Government of Nagaland, the District Economics and Statistics Office, Mon conducted the 2nd phase training on the online registration of births & deaths at the conference hall of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Mon on February 6. 

The main objective of the Training was to enhance and empower the capacity of Registrars of Births & Deaths of the District for onboarding and efficient utilization of the digital registration system. Economics & Statistics Officers, Dr Tumbenthung Y Humtsoe and Ingauzeule Kenrang, from the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland Kohima were the Resource persons of the Training.

The resource persons delivered a talk on the importance of streamlining of registration of Births & Deaths, highlighting on the Amendments and purposes of the Births and Deaths act of 1969 and consequent amendments of 2024 and the necessities of data’s pertaining to registrations of Births and Deaths in formulation of policies and schemes for the benefits of the public and the Government in general.

The resource persons enlightened the Registrars on the online registration portal during the technical session and presented on the concepts of online registration as the alternative of manual registration.

With the increasing shift towards digital governance, they mentioned that the platform serves to ensure faster, more accurate and accessible services.

The Registrars were given hands on training on the navigation of the system, data verifications and procedures emphasizing and urging the Registrars in providing quality and accurate data.

Yhunchilo Khing, District Economics & Statistics Officer, Mon, chaired the programme while Muyalu Kath, Economics & Statistics Officer, Mon, delivered the closing remarks. Registrars from all of Mon districts participated in the training.
