Dimapur, December 9 (MExN): The ATMA Dimapur Niuland Block conducted within district farmers training for farmer’s friend and BFAC members at Muga Farm School, Niuland Town on December 5. Kinilo Khing, Senior Inspector, Cooperation Department elaborated on the topic “Organization of Cooperative Societies” to the members present. He said that a co-operative society is another means for forming a legal entity to conduct business besides forming a company.
He said that a co-operative society is an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly-owned and democratically controlled enterprise. The operation of co-operative societies is subject to control so as to prevent fraud and to ensure that every member enjoys equal rights and benefits in respect of the business of the society.
