Medziphema, January 22 (MExN): ICAR Research Complex NEH Region, Nagaland Centre Medziphema conducted three-day training on ‘Oyster mushroom cultivation technology: A source of income generation for marginal and small farmers’ from January 19-21. The training was coordinated by Dr. Rajesha G. and Ph Romen Sharma. A total of 21 farmers, including 15 farm women, from different districts participated in the training which mainly focused on oyster mushroom cultivation, value addition and marketing of the mushroom.
During the valedictory programme, Dr. DJ Rajkhowa, Joint Director highlighted the nutritional significance of mushroom and motivated the trainees to come up as entrepreneurs in mushroom production. He also encouraged the farmers to start mushroom spawn production to mitigate the problem of spawn unavailability. A press release stated that a total of 90 spawn packets were distributed to the participants by the Joint Director to encourage mushroom cultivation.
