 
                          
                  
Kohima, July 27 (DIPR): The inaugural programme of the “Induction Training of Panel Lawyers on Lawyering Skills” was held at the Directorate of State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) Kohima on July 27. The three day programme is being organised by Nagaland Legal Service Authority. Judge, Gauhati High Court, Justice Songkhupchung Serto, in his inaugural address said the image of Lawyers have changed, few years back they were perceived as the greatest sinners. Sharing his experiences while dealing with some cases, he said the Legal Services Authority has to tell people of their rights and also tell them how to get their rights.
Speaking about road conditions, he mentioned that North-East do not need Air Connectivity, if roads are good we can reach from one end to the other in 3- 4 hours. Connectivity Roads remain as they are unless we know our rights, it’s not about the money. Citing the example of English People who defended their country at any cost during Nazi invasion, he urged the Lawyers to develop that kind of spirit and attitude. The sense of fulfillment you get is greater than money you get in helping the helpless, he said. He concluded by quoting Justice H.K. Sema’s quote “In cases I handle, poor people come and pray, and rich people come and pay but I’m here for the poor people.”
President NVCO, Kezhokhoto Savi in his address shared some of his experiences as a Legal Practitioner and stressed on the importance of professional ethics and etiquettes as Lawyers. Welcome Address was given by Member Secretary NSLSA, Nino Iralu. Coordinator, NSLSA Akumla Longchari and CJM & Secretary Kiphire DLSA, Mezivolu T.
