
Peren, July 26 (MExN): The 10-day long Skill Training Programme for the rural youth on “Pig Rearing and Management” organized by the SBI RSETI Peren, Jalukie, concluded on July 24.
As per a press release from Seiminngam Chongloi, Office Assistant, the programme was organized at the campus from July 15 to 24. Resources person for the residential training was Dr R Mahesh Singh, Professor Veterinary College, Jalukie.
A total of 25 candidates from different areas of the state participated and were trained on both theory and practical. They were also made aware to spread the message to every household in the villages to adopt the hygienic and productive way of rearing pigs, stating that Nagas were still following the traditional method.
Participants also went on an exposure visit to Private Pig Breeding Farm in and around Jalukie Valley for practical demonstrations.
The valedictory program was chaired by its Director Uttam Das who spoke about the importance of Pig Rearing in Nagaland and advised the trained candidates to use the knowledge they had acquired for generating income in order that they may become self-reliant.
He also distributed certificates to the trained candidates. The main aim of the programme was to make the rural youths of Nagaland capable for adopting pig farming as an income generating activity.
The institute will also be organizing a mushroom cultivation training programme from August 1. Interested candidates are requested to drop in for further information at SBI-RSETI, NAP Colony Jalukie, Peren.
