Wokha: Fifty-two farmers from two villages (Humtso and Elumyo) of Wokha district were trained on ‘Quality improvement of banana and citrus through training and demonstration programme’ held on February 12.
Resource person Dr. Sanjay Kumar Ray, SMS (Soil Science), KVK, Wokha highlighted about the abiotic and biotic factors for declining citrus and banana in present days and he talked about the role of essential plant nutrients for scientifically cultivation of banana and citrus. Further, he conducted a demonstration programme on soil conservation and nutrient management techniques for banana and citrus. Earlier, he also gave a lecture on plant protection techniques for banana and citrus including disease and pest management.
Megokhono Meyase, SMS (Horticulture), KVK, Wokha delivered a lecture on the scientific cultivation practice of banana and citrus including role of improved variety selection, nursery management, spacing, pruning and value addition of banana and citrus. Mhalo Tongue, SMS (Extension), KVK, Wokha, distributed agricultural inputs such as agriculture lime, NPK fertilizers, micronutrients (zinc and boron) and pesticides to the participants at free of cost.
