Training on ‘Soil Health Management’ concludes

Dimapur, April 29 (MExN): State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised a three days training programme on ‘Soil Health Management’ from April 26 to 28. Soil, being the basis of all agricultural activities, the training programme was aimed at imparting technical knowledge about various aspects of soil science, both theoretically and practically to field functionaries of all ATMA districts.  

Detailed theoretical and practical sessions on soil testing and its importance in agriculture, methods and techniques in soil sample collection, role of bio-agents in soil health management and its application, application of bio-agents, soil sample collection, bio fertilizers- its importance and uses for sustainable agriculture, management of soil biology were imparted by resource persons Temsuienla, Vice Principal, IETC & Incharge Agricultural Chemistry Lab; Dr. Beremjungla, Lecturer & Incharge, Bio Control Lab, IETC and Mhonchumo, A.O. Bio Fertilizer Laboratory, IETC.  

The valedictory function was chaired by Sentinatro Longchar, DPD SAMETI, while feedback on the training was given by Tiarenla Jamir, ATM, Zunheboto and Kanato Sumi, ATM, Mon. In her valedictory speech, special guest Dr. Beremjungla, Lecturer & Incharge Bio Control Laboratory, IETC mentioned that there is a great task ahead for all the Agriculture functionaries towards increasing food production despite the depleting land and water resources, in order to make Vision 2025- food for all, a reality. In the process, she encouraged the participants to deliver technical support to the farmers in a way in which they can understand and implement as per their local needs. Lastly, but not the least, she spoke on the importance of motivating farmers in all their endeavours.  

The training programme concluded with distribution of certificates and training handouts to the participants by the special guest while vote of thanks was pronounced by Tiajungla Longchar, DPD SAMETI.
