Peren, February 19 (MExN): The College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (CoVS&AH), Jalukie, Peren district, a constituent college of Central Agricultural University, Imphal has inaugurated three-day training programme on ‘Backyard Poultry Farming with Improved Germplasm and Management Practices’ to enhance the capacity building of poultry farmers of Nagaland, under the aegis of NEH scheme, funded by ICAR-Central Avian Research Institute, Izatnagar-243122.
The training programme started from February 19, is being attended by 35 participants from Old Jalukie, Jalukie-B, Jalukie and Samziuram villages of Peren district, stated a press release.
During interactions with the participants in the inaugural session, they shared the challenges they face in accessing improved poultry germplasm, breeds, varieties and essential inputs such as feed, vaccination, and healthcare for their birds and animals in their respective villages.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the chief guest, Dr I Shakuntala, Dean, CoVS&AH Jalukie urged the participants to adopt scientific poultry farming and management practices. She emphasised that such practices would not only increase farmers’ income but also Help Bridge the gap between supply and demand for meat and eggs in the state.
In his welcome speech, Dr Bhabesh Mili, Assistant Professor & Course Coordinator, highlighted the significance of the training programme and provided an overview of the topics that would be covered during the training programme.
