Dimapur, November 25 (MExN): One week training of zoo keepers of the North-Eastern Region, sponsored by the Central Zoo Authority, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, New Delhi began at State Environment & Forestry Training Institute, Dimapur on November 21. Altogther 30 trainees from the North Eastern States, namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Sikkim, are attending the training. They will be theoretically trained on various disciplines/sections of zoo at the institute followed by practical orientation through field visits to the Nagaland Zoological Park, Dimapur and Tragopan Conservation Breeding Centre, Kohima. The training was inaugurated by Meyipokyim, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, (Territorial). In his address, he appealed to the trainees to share their knowledge with villagers having community reserves which act as habitats of wild animals. Supongnukshi, Chief Conservator of Forests (EBR), the guest of honour advised the zoo keepers to learn nature of captive animals. Satya Prakash Tripathi, Chief Wildlife Warden, Nagaland delivered keynote address.
