Transformation Crusade in Kohima : An analysis

Victor Dzüvichü | May 19

Both good and evil has existed in this world since time immemorial, day in and day out Christian battle with the dark forces of Satan. From April 24-30, Kohima witnessed a “spiritual warfare against the dark forces of Satan” in the form of the Transformation Crusade which witnessed thousands of people, both old and young, thronging Khuochiezie Local ground, Kohima to listen and witness the power of the Holy Spirit being manifested. The Crusade also was an eye opener to many as they witnessed satanic worshippers being delivered through the power of the Holy Spirit. Post-crusade numerous cases of teenagers being delivered from demons surfaced up in different parts of Kohima, this was received with mixed response with some finding it hard to come in terms with the happenings while for many, they embraced the fact and reality that indeed the young generation is going astray. After hearing reports of the happenings, Rev. Zotuo Kiewhuo, Rev. Shan Kikon and Pastor Azahto Kibami, preachers during the Transformation Crusade along with the Organizing Committee of the Crusade, were interviewed.

Excerpts from the interview:

Q: What actually is Satanism?

Rev. Shan: Satanism is a very wide topic and an indepth discussion is the only way one can really understand what it really means, because this is something which cannot be misinterpreted, let me just say this that the Bible is very clear about God and Lucifer, man has the freewill to choose God and obey Him or choose to go the wrong way, God desires every human to accept Him but Satan wants to mask the people in rejecting Christ, when someone yields to the temptation of occult practices, depression, suicidal tendencies, the devil starts working and influencing them, the Bible is clear on the presence of occult powers and witchcraft, take for instance in the case of King Saul. The Bible talks of people being possessed by demon and we read Jesus Himself casting out demons in the Bible.

Rev. Zotuo: What people need to understand here is witchcraft and Satanism existed even before this crusade, Satan is a master of disguise, he comes as something that people desire and when people yield to it he makes them his slaves. The fact that there are hundreds of people experiencing the same dark thoughts is not natural; it shows that there is something behind these dark and unnatural thoughts, Satanism has been there in this world from before (known by many names) but it will be clearer in the last days, and this is what has been happening presently.

Q: Post-Crusade what has been the response and could you share some of your experiences?

Rev. Zotuo: There has been numerous reports of people especially teenagers being delivered from demon possession, Satanism is much more like idol worship (II Thess. 2:1-12) but what people should understand is satanic powers are unmatchable to the power of the Holy Spirit. A well known columnist who contributes his works to local dailies recently came to me seeking for deliverance last week and the man was delivered from 36 demons, adding to that me along with a member of the organizing committee were called to pray and deliver a girl who had been possessed in a school, there we found out that some of the students had been caught with materials which showed rituals and practices of satanic worshippers which had been couriered from the US. Apart from these there have been numerous cases where people have approached me some themselves while others from their near and dear ones.

Pastor Azahto: The reason for more stories of teenagers being possessed by demons is because the anointing of the Holy Spirit is in full manifestation and when the possessed sees the power of the Holy Spirit it is manifested.
Organizing Committee: The reasons for occurrences of this incident is just like the case of a chicken in the Kitchen  when you shoo away the Chicken it tries to get away and in the process makes a move at every corner at times making a mess of the kitchen in an attempt to free itself. Kohima has seen the power of the Holy Spirit being manifested which has led to these numerous incidents.

Q: What according to you has been the main cause of this sudden trend of Satanism among the younger generation?

Rev. Shan: The young generation is facing temptations that was never experienced by the older generation, they are confused, many of them don’t even know what they really want, Satan works in a way that he makes our desires and dark thoughts into reality and then completely ensnares us.

Rev. Zotuo: Many of the teenagers who have recently been delivered have admitted that they fell into Satanism after continuous depression plagued with suicidal tendencies rebellious nature, excessive addiction to computer games like DOTA, World of War craft movies like the Harry Porter sequel, anime movies, the internet and their desire to gain fame and name. Young teenagers are downloading tutorial videos on satanic worship, witchcraft even through their mobiles while they are in their classrooms, they have identity crisis, low self esteem, they see today’s Church as a dying church.

Q: What would be your Message to the parents?

Rev. Zotuo: Parents should understand the importance of the Word of God, they should understand the difference between learning and being obsessed, many believers today are ignorant of God’s word and have a complacent attitude to the spiritual reality of the Holy Spirit and evil spirits.

Rev. Shan: Many believers today are contented with outward Christianity, parents should realize the fact that the 1st level of protection for children from Satan is not the Church but the home and parents. Parents need to try and know more about their children, teach them the love of Jesus and mould them into better Christians by themselves practicing true Christianity and not just outward Christianity.
The Organizing committee meanwhile has approached the district administration, NGOs, students’ organizations, owners of cyber café/gaming zones in framing up guidelines which would ensure that obsession doesn’t overtake learning which would in turn help in building up a good and responsible Christian generation. Post- crusade counselors have been working day in day out visiting the counselees sharing the love of Jesus to them. A follow up programme of the Crusade is also in the offing, however with the option of very few spaces that can accommodate thousands of people (the final night of the crusade saw an attendance of more than 30,000 believers) the dates of the programme has not yet been announced.
